Christoper Bird, Author of - The Diving Hand, was skeptical when he first started investigating Dowsing. Bird, a researcher, set out to prove that dowsing was only coincidence
In his book, he covers the US Marines successful dowsing experiences locating tunnels and mines in Vietnam.
Another Chapter in Birds book, The diving Hand, talks about DR. Zaboj V. Harvalik, a professional physicist and scientific adviser to the US Army's Advanced Material Concept Agency. Harvalik noticed that a dowsing rod would deflect when it crossed an electromagnetic field.

Above is a pair of L RODS. I made these from two coat hangers. About 12 inches by 4 inches. Exact size does not matter. The blue handles are BIC Pen casings. I took the ink cartridges out. These are super sensitive. They will float forward when I am walking forward and turn inward (for me) for a YES when the object I seek in my mind is passed over by the RODS. The L RODS will turn outward for me when asked a NO question, such as, "is the Object in front of me 100 miles away"? Some dowsers prefer the opposite directions for the YES & NO's, it's all what makes you feel comfortable.
When you feel comfortable with them working to find objects that you can see in front of you, giving you a YES when you pass over the object and hovering forward in the ready position while searching and then they return to the forward ready position after passing over the object. Then you are ready to search for objects that you can not see. Good hunting.
Dowsing has other names, Witching, Water Witching and Divining are other common names used in different parts of the US. Many experienced dowsers learned the art of finding water from their parents or grandparents. Many of the older mines in the US used Dowsing to locate minerals.
